ABOUT
Through her art, Loutje Hoekstra (1994) asks: How can our feelings, longings, and memories find a shelter and a habitat in our environment? In this search, she explores the intimacy between shapes, the body, and her natural surroundings. The presence of nature is a central element in this dialogue.
In her most recent works, she frames the process of loss, letting go, and growth by documenting her body in motion. The body itself is used as a primary tool, leaving organic traces on the surface of the canvas. In these marks, she finds an expression of what has been, what is being lived, and what to return to.
Loutje Hoekstra (1994) is living and working in Amsterdam. She studied Biology and Innovation Sciences at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands.
