Commissioned portrait

A beautiful portrait out of a single line for yourself, the family, a loved one or a lost one. I make portraits that capture features and character in a delicate, minimal, yet poetic way, on high quality paper and carefully wrapped.

Costs: €300,- ex VAT, ex shipping for a portrait sized between A4 - A3.

For larger portraits the price ranges between €300,- to €500,-, also with the possibility to have it on canvas.

There are two ways to commission a portrait; live and from a photo.

Live sessions

take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Live portraits are a great experience. After introducing one another I start to make sketches to get familiar with the persons face and expression. Thereafter, I start to make a series of portraits from which the commissioner can choose one that will be the final portrait. This allows you to see the proces and be part of the artistic creation that underlies capturing someone in just one line.

In consultation with the commissioner a different location can be set. However, travel expenses are not included in the price.

Portraits from photographs

are suitable when the commissioner is not in The Netherlands, the portrait is a surprise or the person of which the portrait is made has deceased. Also portraits after pictures have a special value, since pictures sometimes fail at capturing a certain aspect of a person or are too direct. A portrait can bring an additional emotional value that surpasses the literal depiction of the person.

To be able to make a good portrait I need a series of pictures, frontal and sideways and preferably a text or story about the person. If interested, I will provide an overview of what kind of pictures I require and though conversation we will find a manner to capture the persons character and extend the (story-)line of the artwork.
