Launching Print “Sitting Boy”

‘Sitting Boy’ (2019), a limited edition of 33 signed fine art prints, 20x30 cm on Hahnemühle paper. The prints are 80€ per print.

A few years ago I drew a little line boy on this photo by Annelinde de Jong of the landscape around Lago di Garda. I called it ‘Sitting Boy’ and over the last several years he has gained depth and meaning to both of us. By now he might have even become symbolic for the fading away of a loved one; a body returning to the natural world.

DUST Project

DUST is a multidisciplinary performance on the relation between dementia and home seeking.

It looks into the landscape of the human brain and its collapse through Alzheimer's disease. What information draws the human being to define him/herself and define his/her surrounding, and how does this entity fall apart and dissolve? Throughout this research, it is reflected upon the longing that Alzheimer's patients have for their first homes as a metaphor to process the alienation that we have towards our realities. How can we belong without a memory? How can we find our way back home within our ever-changing cities?

By Mayar Alexan, Loutje Hoekstra and Hoor Malas, with music by Abdo Ineni

Lois Taceno - Jul 2022

Custom made 50m long backdrop for the Lois Galeria show X in Taceno, Italy.

Up the hills from the Lago Di Como lays the small village of Taceno, with its old water factory. This water factory gained new spirit through the visit of Lois and was put back into working. To slowly reveal the old building with its little shops, this backdrop depicts in one line how the place used to be and opens up to reveal the restored beauty that lays behind.
